This autumn, we are continuing our efforts to further develop UniDig and strengthen collaboration on digitalization across the higher education sector. We have now visited a large number of Sweden\u2019s higher education institutions, established our new licensing function, and are launching an innovation arena for sharing experiences and fostering collaborative learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mauritz Danielsson is now the CEO of UniDig<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Since 1 August, Mauritz Danielsson has served as CEO of the UniDig Consortium. Mauritz had been Acting CEO since 1 February and will now continue his work to further develop the consortium and strengthen national collaboration among Sweden\u2019s higher education institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 30 higher education institutions visited<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dialogue with higher education institutions is an important foundation for UniDig\u2019s work. As of 9 October, we have visited 30 higher education institutions. Through these visits, we have established contacts and gained a broad understanding of the institutions\u2019 needs and priorities in the area of digitalisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next step is to review and prioritise the identified needs together with UniDig\u2019s reference groups for university directors, IT managers and IT directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n New needs can be submitted to UniDig on an ongoing basis at info@undig.se<\/a>. We will also regularly invite higher education institutions to share new or changing needs to ensure that our joint priorities remain up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n UniDigs licensing function in place<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n UniDig has now launched its joint licensing function. By bringing together the needs of higher education institutions, the function aims to secure better terms for software licenses and IT services, enable more efficient contract management, and provide support on procurement and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the first activities is to map existing licenses and agreements to establish a shared overview of the current situation. This mapping will provide an important foundation for the continued work and help identify areas where higher education institutions could benefit from increased coordination.\n\nWe are pleased to welcome Reza Taghvai and Martin Lumsby to the licensing function!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dialogue on national digital infrastructure for research<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Swedish Research Council has been tasked by the Government with preparing for a national coordination responsibility for basic digital research infrastructure. UniDig has served as a dialogue partner in this work and gathered input from, among others, URFI, SUHF\u2019s reference group for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), the SUHF Presidium, and the UniDig Board.\n\nBased on this input, UniDig submitted consolidated comments on the Swedish Research Council\u2019s proposal. The Swedish Research Council submitted its response to the Government assignment on 14 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This work is important for the higher education sector, and UniDig will continue to follow developments and contribute to the dialogue on how the needs of higher education institutions can be taken into account in future national coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sector wide agreement for Microsoft Unified Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Since June 2026, a new sector-wide agreement for Microsoft Unified Support has been in place. The agreement covers both reactive and proactive support for Microsoft services. Seventeen higher education institutions participate in the agreement, which provides opportunities to coordinate support and benefit from the sector\u2019s combined volume and shared needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Continued work on AI services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n UniDig has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OpenAI regarding ChatGPT Edu. At the same time, work continues to ensure a range of options for the sector. This autumn, UniDig is therefore engaging in dialogue with additional providers, both national and international, offering comparable AI services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n UniDig launches an innovation arena<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Many exciting initiatives are under way at higher education institutions across Sweden, and we often find ourselves working on similar challenges without being aware of each other\u2019s work. UniDig is therefore launching an Innovation Arena where we can share experiences, solutions and lessons learned.
