During the spring, UniDig has continued to develop sector-wide collaboration on digitalization. Dialogue with higher education institutions, government agencies and suppliers has intensified, and several concrete initiatives have moved forward. Here is an update on current activities and upcoming initiatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visits with Higher Education Institutions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During the spring, UniDig met with the leadership teams of 17 higher education institutions across Sweden. The discussions show a clear demand for sector-wide coordination in areas such as AI, licence management, procurement, and IT, cyber and information security.\nMany institutions also highlight the need for UniDig to strengthen the sector\u2019s dialogue with government agencies and suppliers, and to help establish common positions on strategic issues. The needs of research, support for shared infrastructure, and the sector\u2019s digital development are recurring key themes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Dialogue with government agencies and other organizations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During the spring, UniDig initiated meetings and dialogues with the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR), the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF), and the Ministry of Education and Research. Dialogue with these organisations is important, and regular meetings will be held going forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Microsoft CASA agreement in place<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The sector-wide Microsoft CASA agreement has now been finalised and came into effect on 1 May 2026. The agreement was developed in collaboration between UniDig and ITCF and provides participating higher education institutions with improved opportunities for coordination and volume-based benefits when purchasing Microsoft services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Feasability study for examination administration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The feasibility study on examination administration has now started, and a survey has been sent to higher education institutions to map existing solutions and needs. The deadline for responding to the survey is 25 June.\nThe aim is to develop a comprehensive overview of the sector\u2019s needs and provide recommendations for the next steps in this area. The feasibility study will be completed by the end of October 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Procurement eduPrint<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Work on the next generation of eduPrint is continuing. The procurement process is underway and is expected to be completed in February 2027. The aim is to ensure a long-term, cost-effective printing service that meets the needs of the sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Establishing license management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The establishment of UniDig\u2019s licence management function is underway, with launch planned for early autumn. The function will ensure the coordinated, efficient and legally compliant procurement and management of software licences and IT services for the higher education institutions participating in UniDig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n By acting collectively, the sector can achieve better contractual terms, lower overall costs, reduced duplication of effort, and stronger regulatory compliance. The licence management function will be an important building block in creating long-term value and strengthening the sector\u2019s capacity to act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Joint agreement Microsoft Unified support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A sector-wide agreement with Microsoft for its Unified Support service has been signed for the 17 higher education institutions participating in the initiative. The agreement came into effect on 15 June 2026 and provides access to enhanced support and advisory services from Microsoft. Additional higher education institutions will have the opportunity to join the agreement in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Continued work on AI services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Interest in generative AI remains strong across the sector. Negotiations are underway on a sector-wide agreement with OpenAI, which could provide higher education institutions with better terms and simplify the management of AI services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In parallel, UniDig is initiating discussions with other suppliers about the possibility of establishing agreements for AI services. By exploring several alternatives, UniDig aims to promote choice, competitive terms, and long-term sustainability in the field of AI. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Collaboration as a foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n UniDig\u2019s mission is based on identifying areas where the sector benefits from acting collectively. The activities currently underway are examples of how shared needs can be translated into concrete initiatives that strengthen higher education institutions\u2019 ability to meet future challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We look forward to continuing our dialogue and collaboration with you across the sector.
